Goodnight Hall has completed the gold tier of the UW-Madison Green Office Program. For this stage of the program we explored sustainable purchasing/shipping strategies and community engagement by examining our current purchasing business processes and outreach efforts. We reviewed purchasing workflows to better utilize MDS vendors and minimize shipping packaging and driver trips. We are looking forward to future ShopUW+ enhancements that will make it easier to shop for “green” products. We also showcased our existing outreach efforts as examples of community engagement and support for the Wisconsin Idea.
The groups in CSD and Aquatic Sciences do a fabulous job of community outreach and engagement in their respective areas. A mix of faculty, staff, and students from both of these groups will be joining up for this large, collaborative effort and getting together safely for a few hours this summer for a special community engagement project. This activity will allow us to foster relationships inside Goodnight Hall, make an impact in the community, and complete the Green Office program with a Platinum Certification.
We also have two research groups in the building that are pursuing the Green Lab certification process, going above and beyond the programs launched in the building. Good luck to the CCANDL and Fowler groups as they work towards achieving this goal in the near future.
