Melanie Buhr-Lawler, audiologist and clinical associate professor in the Department of Communicative Disorders, was awarded a Professional Development Grant.

Dr. Buhr-Lawler’s clinical focus is working with deaf and hard of hearing children and adults. Dr. Buhr-Lawler is the Audiology Clinic Coordinator at the UW Speech and Hearing Clinic. She oversees the UW’s Hearing Aid Recycling Program (HARP) and coordinates the hearing screenings for the Dane County Head Start program. Dr. Buhr-Lawler supervises Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) students clinically and also teaches courses in the Department of Communicative Disorders.

She will be using the Professional Development Grant to attend the American Academy of Audiology’s annual conference, AudiologyNOW, which is held in Boston, MA from March 28-March 31, 2012.
