Elders have the highest rates of concussions and traumatic brain injury (TBI) when compared to other age groups, with falls being the leading cause of all TBIs in the United States. Clinical Professor Kim Caul and SLP graduate students Rina Nikolic and Izzy Rottier had the opportunity to provide resources and educate seniors at a recent health and wellness fair serving Dane County and surrounding communities. The students talked with seniors on their increased risk for concussion, concussion symptoms, and the importance of seeking medical care. UWSHC’s Concussion Services were promoted, including the benefits of seeking out interventions if concussion symptoms persist.

Anyone who has experienced a concussion and needs help with symptom management, is struggling to return to work or the classroom, or is having difficulty accessing services post-concussion should schedule an appointment with UWSHC’s Concussion Services at: https://csd.wisc.edu/clinic/concussion-services/.
