Congratulations to Misha Finney, Ph.D., on receiving two student-nominated awards this semester, one from a graduating senior in the CeO program and one from freshmen/sophomores.
A Center for Educational Opportunity (CeO) student selected Dr. Finney to receive the Dr. Brenda Pfaehler Award of Excellence. CeO is a federally funded program designed to provide academic support to who families meet income guidelines, first-generation college students, and students with disabilities. The Dr. Brenda Pfaehler Award of Excellence was established by the staff of CeO to honor Dr. Pfaehler, CeO’s first director, who passed away on November 30, 1996. Throughout her life, Dr. Pfaehler was committed to providing equal opportunity and equity in education to disadvantaged students. Her love, dedication, and contributions have touched many lives. It was her belief that everyone could excel, which created a CeO community striving for excellence, after which the award has been named.
Misha was also selected for an University Housing Honored Instructor Award. Each semester, University Housing residents have the opportunity to recognize outstanding classroom instructors through the Honored Instructor program. Housing residents are invited to honor instructors that have impacted them positively, challenged them, helped them learn, and inspired them. Dr. Finney has been nominated and awarded this honor for the past four semesters.
