Language Access and Health Literacy Practices in Audiology Services for Spanish-Speaking Patients
This presentation will discuss published guidance on language access and health literacy practices and their applicability in audiology clinical services and research spaces. The learner outcomes of the presentation are to:
- Describe the four principles related to communication in clinical services detailed in the CLAS Standards.
- Define organizational health literacy and give three examples of good health literacy practices in audiology services.
Identify pros and cons of different interpreting modalities when used with hard of hearing, Spanish-speaking patients.
