Marziyeh Ostadi, M.Sc.

Marziyeh is a doctoral student in the Communication Sciences and Disorders department under the joint mentorship of Dr. Nadine Connor and Dr. Tiffany Glass. Marziyeh holds a bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy from Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. She earned her master’s degree in Speech Therapy with a minor in Pediatric Swallowing in 2020. She has practiced as a licensed Speech and Language Therapist since 2015 where she worked in both adult and pediatric clinics, especially in the field of swallowing rehabilitation. While working in Isfahan, Marziyeh discovered a gap in knowledge in the area of dysphagia in the Down syndrome (DS) population. Her current research is to quantify the impacts of various components of trisomy 21 on swallowing function in DS in crucial behavioral and biological variables, through the use of tailor-designed mouse models. Marziyeh is also interested in the neurophysiology of dysphagia and motor learning.
