Exemplar Variability and Cross-Situational Word Learning in Young Autistic Children
Kathryn is a certified speech-language pathologist and doctoral student under the mentorship of Dr. Susan Ellis Weismer in the department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She graduated with her B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Northwestern University in 2015 and her M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2017. She worked as graduate research assistant/lab manager in the Development in Neurogenetic Disorders Lab while pursuing her M.A. at the University of Illinois. Kathryn practiced clinically as a speech-language pathologist in early intervention, pre-K, and early elementary school settings in the Chicago area. Her research interests include early language development in clinical populations with a special interest in those from culturally- and linguistically-diverse backgrounds in order to inform intervention practices among speech-language pathologists serving these populations. She is passionate about evidence-based practice and bridging the gap between research and clinical speech-language pathology.
