Amina Grace Speech and Language Program at Gigi’s Playhouse

The Amina Grace Memorial Fund provides children, teens and adults with Down Syndrome the opportunity to refine their communication skills through services by a Speech Language Pathologist. Sessions are delivered at Gigi’s Playhouse, which is a national and international network of Down Syndrome Achievement Centers. Every day, Playhouses provide free, life-changing therapeutic, educational and career training programs for individuals of all ages with Down Syndrome. Their unique mission is to change the way the world views Down syndrome and to send a global message of acceptance for all, and the Amina Grace Program is an integral part of this mission.

The UW Speech and Hearing Clinic and Gigi’s Playhouse of Madison have an established partnership in which graduate student clinicians have the opportunity to implement speech and language sessions with the Gigi’s participants at the Playhouse under the supervision of clinical faculty. Students gain a wide breadth of experience in treating a variety of communication disorders, while fulfilling an organization’s mission and supporting the Down Syndrome population in the greater Madison-area community.
