Courtney is a speech-language pathologist and Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2013 and earned her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of South Alabama in 2015. Her primary research goals are to develop a better understanding of the neurobiological mechanisms associated with vocal communication and swallowing function in Parkinson Disease and to establish a translational line of research to develop therapeutic targets and optimize treatments for motor speech and voice disorders. Additionally, her secondary research interest aims to investigate methods for assessment and treatment of dysphagia in the pediatric and adult populations. At home, she stays busy as a wife and mother of two young children and enjoys spending time outside with her family.
