The Role of Cultural Diversity in Healthcare Delivery and Mentoring

This presentation will review various theoretical stages of racial identify formation. We will discuss the impact that adverse childhood experiences have language development and long-term outcomes in children, and learn about culturally and linguistically sensitive and competent clinical and mentoring strategies.

Debra C. Vigil, Ph.D. Associate Professor at University of Nevada Reno in the Department of Speech Pathology & Audiology, Director of the University Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment (UCAN), Co-Director of the NvLEND program, and Chair of the NvLTSAE state team.

Janice Enriquez, PhD. Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at the UC Davis MIND Institute. Dr. Enriquez is currently the Training Director of the NorCal LEND Program and the UCEDD Multi-Cultural Council Representative (MCC) at the MIND Institute, and MCC Secretary. She is the Co-Director of the Maternal Child Health Careers/Research Initiatives for Student Enhancement – Undergraduate Summer Program (MCHC/RISE-UP) at UC Davis.
