UWSHC offers services to address and support the speech and voice preservation needs of individuals diagnosed with neurodegenerative diseases, such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Huntington’s Disease. Recording of the speech and voice of clients is completed through a variety of banking processes. UWSHC clinicians provide education on banking options, demonstrations of technology and guidance through the recording process. Clinicians also work with the Communication Aids Systems Clinic at the Waisman Center to support implementation of voice and message recordings with communication devices. Counseling for clients, family members, and relevant others is an integral part of the treatment process.
